Background
Communications play a crucial role in the event of an emergency, such as natural disasters including hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, or pandemics. First responders, mobile command posts, and remote emergency shelters must have reliable and secure communications for operational effectiveness. Building a mission-critical communication system can ensure rapid and safe health services within the hospitals, and in remote areas can help in minimizing the fallout due to the disaster.
Challenges / Requirements
Lanner provides network hardware solutions, comprising of uCPE and DU/CU servers, for quickly enabling 5G private networks and communications among hospitals, mobile command posts, mobile field hospitals, and health treatment shelters. These hardware solutions must be capable of delivering the following requirements:
- Multi-WAN Connectivity
To ensure reliable communication in remote areas, the uCPE platform must be capable of supporting multi-WAN connectivity, including broadband, Wi-Fi, and 5G/LTE, to enable intelligent routing and achieve optimized bandwidth.
- Scalable Edge Computing
To enable low latency, near real-time analysis at the edge, the DU/CU edge servers should have multi-core processor architecture and expansion modules for increased performance to run network function virtualization.
- Flexible Modular Design
The DU/CU edge server needs to offer multiple NIC Slots capable of delivering a flexible network interface and ensuring scalability
- Weatherproof
The Outdoor uCPE appliance must be able to endure the harsh conditions of challenging environments, requiring a fan-less design compliant with IP67 waterproof and MIL-STD-810G standards; in addition to supporting a wide temperature range, from -40 to 70°C, without sacrificing operational safety and productivity.
- Hardware Security
Requires increased visibility, centralized security management, and onboard TPM for securing crypto-processing and tamper resistance at the hardware level, for the highest level of encryption to protect mission-critical data, video, and voice communications.
Solutions
Lanner provides carrier-grade edge servers for enabling virtualized network functions in 5G private networks. With a short-depth chassis and front access IO design, the ECA-5540 is powered by the latest 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor, codenamed Sapphire Rapids EE, which is equipped with Intel vRAN boost for improved virtualization performance and power efficiency. Lanner ECA-5540 allows telco operators to deliver the benefits of software-defined, virtualized network services with secure, high-speed connections between Next. Generation Node B (gNB) and User Equipment (UE).
The HTCA-E400 is a carrier-grade MEC Server powered by 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors (codenamed Ice Lake). HTCA-E400 supports 5x 1U compute sleds or 2x 2U+1U compute sleds, designed to support FPGA, GPU, or Time Sync cards, making it suitable as a consolidated Edge AI server for Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) servers, 5G Edge Cloud, and Compact modular optical transport blade/sled solutions.
Lanner’s 5G-ready uCPEs leverage the power of 5G technology to provide high-speed connectivity in areas that were previously difficult or impossible to reach, using a combination of powerful computing resources, advanced wireless technologies, and ruggedized hardware that can withstand even the harshest outdoor environments. Another key benefit of Lanner’s uCPEs platform is highly flexible and customizable for specific needs and use cases, while also architected for immediate deployment virtually anywhere.
The ISD-O370 is an all-weather, fan-less edge network appliance, featuring an 8~16 cores Intel Atom C3000 processor with crypto acceleration, supporting 5G and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and IP67 & MIL-STD-810G environmental compliance. Designed as an outdoor, waterproof wireless uCPE device deployed at the rugged edge, ISD-O370 enables routing, security, industrial IoT, and SD-WAN in the most demanding conditions.
The NCA-1040SE is an ultra-compact uCPE powered by the Intel® Atom® X6413E/Intel Pentium N6210 processor (Codenamed Elkhart Lake). With relatively low power consumption and robust processing capability, NCA-1040SE can be installed in the backpack of the rescue team for mobile SD-WAN applications.
