Lanner’s NCA-6110, designed for application delivery, mobile edge computing, WAN optimization, DPI/IPS/IDS, NFV/SDN and NGFW/UTM, is a high-performance 2U rackmount network security appliance powered by the AMD EPYC™7000 Series CPU. And It is now refreshed with support for AMD's 2nd generation EPYC CPUs, codenamed Rome.

The Rome CPUs, designed for enterprise server/datacenter market, are built around AMD’s Zen 2 architecture that incorporates both 7nm and 14nm manufacture processes. The memory controller and I/O, according to AMD, “have been put into a dedicated shared module that hooks up to the eight other CPU modules,” and “each of these CPU modules houses 8-cores, providing up to 64-cores total on a single package, ” almost eliminating network latency and significantly increasing network throughput.

This processor refresh retains NCA-6110’s outstanding features such as its support for (up to) 40Gbps encryption/decryption security acceleration, 512GB DDR4 2666MHz ECCR-DIMM and 8 NIC module slots for 1/10/40/100G copper/fiber interface. Other hardware features worth reiterating are dual GbE RJ45 ports, 4x or 2x 3.5” or 2.5” swappable bays, 1x RJ45 console port and 2x PCIe*8 FHHL or 1x PCIe*16 FHFL.

The aforementioned NIC module slots are compatible with Lanner’s F.A.S.T. (flexibility, adaptability, scalability and transformability) module solutions, expanding the NCA-6110’s network connectivity, network storage and open compute capabilities.
