Network Disaggregation in 5G Edge Cloud
2021 was a momentous year for Open RAN and MEC, as more proof of concept deployments have proved that, through the disaggregation of hardware and software, the 5G network performance and stability can offer new levels of security, automation, virtualization, and performance to edge cloud.
In 2021, Lanner became a member of major network disaggregation alliances, including MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum), TIP (Telecom Infra Project), and OCP (Open Compute project). By closely collaborating with leading global organizations, Lanner aimed to deliver hyper-converged MEC servers and Open RAN appliances that ensure seamless interoperation for next-gen 5G communication.
OT Security in Critical Infrastructure
The remote working model has created loopholes for malware or ransomware, and exposed the vulnerability of SCADA Networks or Industrial Control Systems in today’s power grid automation, railway system, natural gas pipeline, and other critical infrastructures. Early 2021, a critical pipeline that supplied for the U.S. East Coast was briefly shut down after being hit by a massive ransomware attack.
