Job Summary

The Controller is a key leader on the leadership team. Contributes to all areas of the organization and provides strong accounting, controls, and financial leadership. The Controller is responsible for overseeing the Company’s financial performance and controls, reporting GAAP financials, budget variances, and key performance metrics to Headquarters in alignment with corporate policies and practices. Will provide financial direction to the organization and make recommendations to improve accounting, financial, and operational processes and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for site.
  • Analyze variances and communicates explanations to management with recommended actions.
  • Prepare forecasts of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows
  • Oversee legal, administrative, and HR functions, and must work across organizational boundaries and all levels of the Company to achieve country or corporate objectives.
  • Integrate and train new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team.
  • Assist sales and sales support activities, helping to set up standard operations procedures for sales-related activities.
  • Establish cohesive, measurable, and easy-to-administer KPI bonus and other variable pay plans.
  • Estimate product costs to support quoting activities.
  • Share best practices across global finance teams, e.g., process improvements, financial modeling, and procedures changes.
  • Provide proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation, and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions.
  • Collaborate with General Manager, accountants, and senior management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and lead the development of complex analysis.
  • Monitor and implement internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.
  • Ensure proper accounting in accordance with the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as local statutory requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and cost accounting principles
  • Bilingual in Mandarin and English
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
  • Demonstrated expertise in MS Office and SAP financial software –
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries from the business.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, public groups, peers, and staff.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Ten years or more of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Able to travel as needed.

Compensation: 

  • $109,000-$127,000 per year
