(Taipei, Taiwan – November 10th, 2009) Lanner Electronics, Inc., an industry leader in network video hardware, today announced the general availability of the VR-1208, an entry level hybrid DVR that utilizes the H.264 AVC codec and supports up to 8 Channels of D1 analog video.
As a Hybrid DVR, the VR-1208 records both NTSC and PAL video systems. For direct on board compression, the DVR handles up to 8 channels of hardware D1 encoding. With an additional 4 lines available for hardware decoding to D1. With the PTZ camera control, there is a RS-485 interface which supports Pelco-P and Pelco-D protocol. The alarm interface has 8 alarm inputs and 4 relay outputs.
The VR-1208 is built around the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and the Intel 945GSE chipset, with 1GB DDRII built-in on board memory. For storage space, there are two 3.5” hard drive bays with SATA II connections. For external connections the VR-1208 includes 2 serial ports, 4 USB, 1 GB Ethernet connection and 1 VGA output. Audio comes in through 2 RCA inputs and utilizes the G.711 audio encode.
There are many choices in operating system as the VR-1208 can run Windows XP, Ubuntu Linux 8.04, Fedora 10 or CentOS 5.2. With purchase, Lanner provides preliminary software for use in Windows XP. The Eyeshot 2000 EVK controls the VR-1208 and allows for, motion detection, video loss detection, night detection and a RAW date preview. For even more control, Lanner provides a Software Development Kit, which enables the user to encode, set and structure the alarm I/O, stream, decode, display and control the cameras through the RS-485.
The VR-1208 is perfect as an entry level surveillance application, with the ability to survey, analyze and broadcast video. It can also be used as a hybrid DVR or even for long distance learning.
