Intel® Atom™ Provides Ideal Platform for SFF Industrial Computers

Lanner expands line of Atom-based LUGE computers - silent, fanless, small form factor platforms for embedded applications
(Taipei, Taiwan – April 28, 2009) Lanner Electronics, a leading ODM manufacturer of embedded and industrial computer systems and single board computers, today announced the launch of a compact Intel Atom-based industrial PC with extended temperature range and industrial-use I/O interfaces.
The Lanner LUGE LEC-2050 is the first Intel Atom-based industrial PC designed to operate in harsh industrial environments, from -40 to 60 degrees Celcius. It also supports extended power input range (DC +24V) and dual power inputs via Phoenix connector and standard DC in jack. A full-featured, compact and fanless system measuring 43mm in height, the LEC-2050 provides dual video (VGA and DVI), dual gigabit LAN, four COM ports and four USB ports, along with SATA II and CompactFlash storage support. It includes 512MB of DDR2 memory onboard, expandable to 2GB via SODIMM. The 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU provides sufficient processing power for a wide range of industrial applications while consuming very little power, and allowing the construction of completely fanless embedded systems.

"In addition to reduced power demands, the LUGE series also provides a far smaller footprint than competitive solutions because they take advantage of Lanner’s compact embedded system board technologies. Extended temperature and power input range provide additional flexibility and make the LUGE LEC-2050 an outstanding platform for industrial automation and control applications," he said.

The LUGE LEC-2050 provides an exceptionally stable platform for industrial applications such as industrial control, communications and measurement. Its fanless design coupled with completely dust-proof enclosure ensures reliable operation under harsh industrial conditions. Additionally, as a member of the Intel Embedded and Communications Alliance, Lanner ensures long lifecycle parts availability essential for any industrial application.
